We understand the confusion, stress and uncertainty of these diagnoses and are here to work with patients and their families to get answers, solutions and the most effective treatment possible.

The professionals that work at Kidney Associates of Kansas City, PC include several physicians all of whom are board-certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. We also have two nurse practitioner and several highly skilled and dedicated nurses with years of experience in Nephrology. In 2009 Kidney Associates was recognized by the Renal Physicians Association with the National Exemplary Practice Award which each year recognizes one practice in the nation demonstrating truly outstanding care for its patients.

Our team of medical professionals puts your needs as a patient as our first priority. We believe in working closely with primary care physicians to ensure a correct diagnosis and the best possible outcome. This could include a range of treatment options from medications and diet to kidney and pancreas transplantation or dialysis if necessary.

Our medical team is committed to continuing education and professional development in all areas of nephrology. Our efforts include a 6:30am meeting each Wednesday morning where we meet to review and discuss the latest research, publications and advancements in areas including the study of kidney disease, high blood pressure and kidney transplantation. This ongoing review provides our physicians with the information needed to provide information, cutting edge research and the most innovative treatment to our patients. It is through this type of ongoing professional development and continuing education that we are the leaders in kidney disease in the Kansas City area.

Another critical element to our practice is the importance that we place on the physicians interaction with each patient. Patients are typically very surprised when they discover that their Physician, not a nurse or technician, will be seeing them on a regular, ongoing basis. Instead of just checking in with a nurse or tech, our patients can expect to have up to 80% of their care and individual contact provided by one of our physicians. Our staff often confers with each other to ensure that all issues in recovery and treatment are identified and addressed. This allows us to boast the lowest hospitalization and mortality rate amongst all Kansas City area nephrologists. It also is one of the leading factors that allow us to detect, diagnose and treat any post-surgery infections or issues as quickly and effectively as possible.

We dont just stop there; we see our role as ongoing in your recovery. Your primary care physician will be provided with a summary of your treatment, procedure or care after each visit to the facility. This includes coordinating tests and lab work to avoid duplication between your primary care physician and what we require. In addition we take pride in providing longitudinal care that allows us to be effective at both in and out patient management through dialysis or post procedure after kidney transplantation.

We are committed to technology as an important tool to assist in your care at Kidney Associates. We adopted computerized medical records in 2008, long before required by current health care regulations. You can expect to have access to your health care providers as well as your laboratory results and visit summaries via our Patient Portal. We encourage the use of laboratory facilities, including Quest and LabCorp, which link with our computer system and make it easier to track and trend important laboratory results in your care.
